For Gigs, Galleys and all types of traditional rowing boats – organised by Bembridge Harbour Authority and the Yarmouth Gig Rowing Club

Despite the 2021 Bembridge Gig Fest being cancelled when Coronavirus restrictions were extended, boats from 4 mainland clubs rowed across the Solent to join the Island’s Yarmouth Gig Rowing Club for an informal gathering in Bembridge Harbour, enjoying some fun racing, socialising (at a safe distance!) and a barbecue.  Here’s a few images from the Gig Gathering to give a flavour …

The 2022 event will be as originally envisaged, with informal racing on the Saturday and Sunday supported by Brading Haven Yacht Club, and a social gathering on the Saturday evening with food and live music – more on this to follow. The outline plan is for straight line races of about 2km on Saturday, and head style timed racing from Bembridge Beach around St Helens Fort on Sunday, for Ladies, Men’s and Mixed crews.
